Hot work

Our trusty steed. We have one pannier each. The box between the panniers holds tools, spares and some of Steve's stuff he needs during the day. The handlebar bag holds my day stuff.

A very nice lady 😃

Nice village square - note: even French roads have some potholes!

It's tough being a distance cyclists - starter from last night

Main course - the pudding photo has been censored 😃

Phew, it's starting to feel a little warm out there on the bike. At least we get a self generated cooling breeze when we are cycling along, with the exception of when our speed drops on the steeper climbs. A further 7 côtes today but, as for yesterday, not a single col to tick off the list. That should all change tomorrow as we head towards the Pyrynes. The box which must be obeyed says we have pedalled 192km and climbed 2,200m today. Our plan is to reduce our daily mileage for the days to come as there will be significantly more climbing.

We changed the format a little this morning and left our hotel before 07:00 (don't worry, we didn't do a runner without paying) without having breakfast. We needed to get a 'control' stamp (to prove we have been there) at Tournon-d' Agenals, 10km down the road from our overnight place, so we stopped there for breakfast.

Much later in the day, when we were looking for lunch, we found the restaurant in our chosen small town was closed on Wednesday. Steve asked a lady who happened to be walking past about the next villages we would pass through but they weren't looking promising either. The very nice lady took pity on us and took us around the corner to her house where we were fed and watered before being sent on our way.

Today's ride has been quite similar to yesterday - lovely countryside and quite mixed roads. If ever we find ourselves on a busier road you can almost guarantee that we will be directed off it within a mile or so.

Tonight we will rest up near the tiny village of Aydie.
